August 18, 2010 (Washington, D.C.) &mdash To commemorate National Immunization Awareness Month this August, Every Child By Two is offering new tools to help parents better adhere to and understand the importance of vaccinating according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' recommended schedule.

One tool that can be launched from parents' computers and smart phones will generate the recommended immunization schedule for their children up to age six based on the children's birthdates. Parents will also have the option to provide an e-mail address, to which reminders will be sent when a child is due to receive an immunization.

"Parents have a million things going on these days," said Amy Pisani, executive director of Every Child By Two. "It can be hard to keep up with your children's vaccination schedules. Our new tool will take the guesswork out of the schedule and help parents to get their children immunized on time, every time."

Every Child By Two is also releasing a bookmark, which can be downloaded and printed by parents. It features child-friendly language and zoo characters that remind children and their parents to protect themselves from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Every Child By Two, Carter/Bumpers Champions for Immunization, works to ensure that all children receive timely immunizations and continues to seek methods to institutionalize vaccine delivery and ensure access to vaccines for all children.

August is recognized as National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). The goal of NIAM is to increase awareness about the importance of immunizations for all ages.
